2010 Irish Heritage Month - Activities in Newport

  • New York City Trip - The AOH Pipes and Drums has been invited once again to march in the New York City St. Patrick's Day parade. Click here  for the latest information on the parade and our plans to attend.

2010 AOH Scholarship Information

2007 was christened as the Year of the Hibernian Scholarship Fund. Since then many initiatives have been started and fundraising events held. We awarded our first batch of scholarships in 2007. The 2008 winners have been selected and the awards are being presented.

Other Scholarship Programs

  • The Ladies AOH is sponsoring its second annual high school scholarship awarding $1000 towards tuition for the sophomore year in a Catholic high school. Click here  for the details.
  • The Newport Irish Heritage Association has renamed its annual scholarship award in the name of the late Representative Paul Crowley. The NIHA will give $750.00 to a graduating high school senior who will be a college freshman in the fall of 2009. Click here  for the details.

Lunch at Hibernian Hall

Looking for a nice place to dine? We are open to the public for lunch at the hall every Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and holiday Mondays. Alan and his crew are available to cater other events at the hall. Click here for more information.

AOH/LAOH 94TH Biennial National Convention

The National Convention was held from July 23rd to July 27th in New Orleans.

Hibernian Digest
We were recently given an opportunity to submit, to the National Hibernian Digest, an article about the Rhode Island Hibernians efforts to support returning and homeless veterans, as well as, the AOH Newport program to ship care packages to Iraq. The article appeared in the May - June 2008 issue.

This article was based on one that Newport This Week published in their March 2008 issue.
